They are also excellent sources of Omega 3 and biotin which are helpful in the formation and strengthening of hair.

To use it, simply beat an egg or two, rub it in your hair, cover your hair with a towel or shower cap for 15 minutes. After that rinse with warm water and not hot water. Hot water will cause the eggs to start cooking. You don’t want to do that.

Honey

Honey is a natural humectant, which means it can attract and retain moisture. This is a necessary quality for  a deep conditioner.  Using honey will help moisturize your hair and preventing breakage.

When honey is mixed with a little olive oil and applied as a hair mask, the olive oil will add shine to the strands while honey will prevent drying.

Mayonnaise (Mayo)

What many people don’t know is that mayo can used as a  hair treatment. Mayo will ensure that the strands become smooth and frizz-free.

To use it, simply slather the mayo on your hair and spread it around your dry hair using gloved hands. Leave it in the hair for 30 minutes before you rinse.

Avocado

Avocados are an age old beauty secret and when applied on the skin, they help stimulate collagen and elastin production. When used in the hair, it helps to seal split ends.

To use it, mash it in a bowl and apply on your hair evenly. Leave it for 15 minutes before rinsing.

Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar can be helpful in ensuring the shine is back in your hair. It will remove  product buildup.

In order to use it, measure in a cup, pour it on your hair, use your hands to rub it to the scalp level, leave it for a few minutes and then rinse.

Olive Oil (Coconut oil is a better alternative for those will fine hair)

Using olive oil is an age old secret. Using oil oil to soften your hair and to add shine. It will also add moisture to both scalp and hair.

To use it, warm it slightly (caution: do not put hot oil on your hair and scalp). Pour a small amount of oil in your palms. Gently massage the oil into your ends and work your hair up to the scalp. Repeat until the oil covers each strand. It is a heavy oil so be cautious when using. You may opt to stay a few inches away from your scalp to maintain volume later. After the hair is coated, cover your hair with a plastic cap and towel for 30 minutes. Then rinse, shampoo and condition.

    1. You are welcome, Rahina. We also suggest you using a wide tooth comb. Comb gently from the ends of your hair to the roots. Handle your hair delicately like fine lace.

    1. Welcome Julie,

You have first have to get to the bottom of why your hair is breaking. Do you use chemicals? Could it be medical? If none of those reasons are a concern then you should start deep conditioning more. We are a big fan of a deep conditioner called : Giovanni Smooth as Silk. Please click through the “We Recommend” product widget on the left to find it. Everyone’s hair is different, but we find this conditioner to be effective. We hope this helps.

    1. Welcome Ejaita, it may be too much to use all six foods on your hair at once, depends on your hair type. Experiment and see what works well for you.

    1. Thank you for your comment, Jefferson. We don’t know exactly why you keep losing hair, but will always advise people to be gentle with their hair. Remember to condition, condition, condition. Conditioner, water, protective styling, and gentle handling will keep the hair on your head. If you use chemicals (relaxers, perms, color, etc.), give them a break for a few months. They may be causing issues.
